Ivan Pavlov

Great Reading(Photo credit: Enslow Publishing)

Why do dogs drool when you break out a can of their favorite food?  Ivan Pavlov has the answer.  A Russian scientist who never followed the dress code in school, he also fell in love with a woman his parents disapproved.  He received a Nobel Prize for discoveries about dogs’ digestion.  His later work on “conditioned responses” became the basis for modern animal training and product advertising.

Ivan Pavlov:  Exploring the Mysteries of Behavior by Barbara Saunders, 112 pages, suitable for grades 4-10, available from your school library or from Enslow Publishers, Inc.  ISBN:  0-7660-2506-3
